Rule 297: Date from which provident fund recognition takes effect
Rule 297 fixes when an order recognising a provident fund takes effect. Normally it is the first day of the month following the month in which the application is received. At the employer's request, the first day of a later month in the same financial year may be specified. If the approving authority accepts there was sufficient reason for delay, recognition may be from a date not earlier than 1 April of the financial year of the application. Rules 292 to 300 deal with recognised provident funds under Part A of Schedule XI to the Act.
